“SMOKE AND GAS”
FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS
JANUARY- 2022
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
~The JANUARY meeting was held Thursday 1/20/2022 at 6:30PM at the Mulvane American Legion and called to order by president Kevin Cardwell.
~Thanks to the American Legion for always providing a meal prior to our meetings.  We appreciate all their support and hard work ensuring we have dinner prior to our meeting.  Be sure to thank the Legion members!!
~It was great to have about 15 officers and members at the meeting.
~WELCOME TO ALL NEW MEMBERS - WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU AND SEEING YOU AT UPCOMING EVENTS.
~We know at this time that some are being a little extra cautious with the recent COVID surge and spike in cases.  As always, we ask each member to do what they feel is right for them regarding meetings and other activities. Hopefully we will be back to some form of normalcy in the near future.
~Cheryl asks that you notify the club if you hear of any member who is ill or has any other needs or loss of a family member. It's important that we remember our club members during these times with thoughts and cards.
~Steve Nichols advised that the treasurer's report is good. All is well and our accounts are in good standing.  Our accounts are looking good & we have 'seed money' set aside to plan for the 2022 Showdown in the Valley Car Show.  We still have funds set aside for the rock for one of the Mulvane parks - this project is on hold until after the holidays.
~Steve reminded members that we are having our monthly breakfasts at the American Legion and the next one is Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 8:30AM.    All club members, family & friends are invited.  Adults are $10 and this breakfast is worth every bit of that.  Kids 6 - 12 $5 and under 5 eat for FREE.  We need at least 30 members to ensure we can continue with this fun activity.  SAVE THE DATE for the next breakfast 3/5/2022!!!!
~The Marauders continue to make donations to the Kansas Honor Flight each year and some of our members have benefitted from those donations by going on a flight.  If you know of a WW II, Korean or Vietnam Veteran who has not been on a flight, please share the Kansas Honor Flight with them or have them contact Cheryl & Danny Boyes and they will be happy to visit with them about getting signed up to go on a flight.   They can contact them at 316-685-6590.  We serve ALL Kansas Veterans and want to ensure they all the opportunity to take this trip of a lifetime with other Veterans.
~UPDATE - CARS FOR CHARITY 2022 - 16 cars and  members were entered in this year's show and 4 members were presented Sponsor Trophy Awards.  Great job members and thanks for representing the club at this show.

~Please remember the concerns of the club and those experiencing health issues and those who have recently lost loved ones. The Marauders Club is a "family" and we want to ensure we reach out to those in need whatever the reason.  Please let Cheryl know if you know of a member that needs a card for any reason.

*The Showdown Planning Committe recently met to start discussing the show and will be meeting regularly after the first of the new year.  We will need several folks to step up and take on several tasks/duties & being a Captain for this upcoming show.

**Inside parking for Showdown will be $25 and outside parking will be $20 for 2022
**Vendor booths will remain at $75
**It was discussed & decided that we need sign at the Casino to let folks know there are cars inside AND outside
**Kevin ask the club to consider having a Swap Meet during Showdown to add incentive for folks to participate, attend and generate more funds with this added attraction.  We have plenty of room and could be a perfect addition to the show. In order to do this and add this attraction, we need a Team & Captain to volunteer to help take on this project.  This would be in addition to our other teams and captains.  If you would be interested and willing to help with this Swap Meet Team, please contact us!!  We need to hear from you if you would be willing to help with a Swap Meet during the show!!
**The Kansas Star Casino has also scheduled Showdown dates through 2025.

*The annual Club Calendar will be discussed for the upcoming year so we can have a 2023 calendar.  We will need a Calendar Committee to help with this project.  Instead of waiting until late in the year, it was discussed that we could start this project anytime during the first of next year.  It is our goal to have a 2023 calendar and begin planning, contacting sponsors and taking photos throughout the year.  If you would be willing to help with this great project, please let us know.  Don Heersche has helped with this in the past and we appreciate his time and effort.  This project needs a committee - are you willing to help??????  We still need members to volunteer to help with the calendar project.

*Kevin has announced that Mulvane would once again be sponsoring the Patriots Baseball Team - a part of the Sunflower Collegiate League - in the summer of 2022.  He would like for the club to participate in a car show for the team in June or July of 2022.  The game/show will be at the Mulvane Sports Complex with games at 6PM and 8PM.  Game is free for participants and parking will be in an area that is safe for the cars.  The Patriots will benefit from this fundraiser car show.  As soon as a date is confirmed we will let everyone know.  Stay tuned..!

*Kevin has Cruisin Calendars 2022 -if you did not get one at the Cars for Charity Show, you can still pick one up at our meetings.
