“SMOKE AND GAS”

MULVANE MARAUDERS 
NOVEMBER - 2021
~The NOVEMBER meeting was canceled Thursday 11/18/21 at 6:30PM at the Mulvane American Legion. Instead of the regular meeting, club members gathered at the Methodist Church in Mulvane to volunteer at the F.R.O.G. Diner.  They are one of our charities and the club enjoys doing some hands on volunteering along with the donation we give them each year.   What a way to celebrate Thanksgiving and show Marauders continue to support great causes in many ways.  The night was a huge success - about 30 club members served over 300 meals for curbside/carryout & in the church.  Huge thank you to everyone who made this a great night as Marauders serve others.  Member Deborah Thomas and her friend played music on their mandolin and guitar - which was an added benefit.  Check out the website for pictures for this event and shows & activities.
*We are now discussing the possibility of serving at the church once each quarter.  What a great break for the faithful folks who serve this meal every week.  Watch the newsletter for details - we will try to pick other Thursday nights we don't have to cancel our meetings on the 3rd Thursday of the month.  
~Thanks to the American Legion for always providing a meal prior to our meetings.  We look forward to the next meal at the December meeting.
~It was great to have about 30 officers and members at the F.R.O.G. Diner on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
~WELCOME TO ALL NEW MEMBERS - WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU AND SEEING YOU AT UPCOMING EVENTS.  
~Steve Nichols advised that the treasurer's report is good. All is well and our accounts are in good standing.  The roster has been updated to reflect all members who have paid their dues.  If you have paid and you are not on the roster, please contact Steve so he can make any necessary corrections.  Our accounts are looking good & we have 'seed money' set aside to plan for the 2022 Showdown in the Valley Car Show.  We still have funds set aside for the rock for one of the Mulvane parks.  
~Steve reminds members that our breakfasts have resumed at the American Legion and the next one is Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 8:30AM.    All club members, family & friends are invited.  Adults are $10 and this breakfast is worth every bit of that.  Kids 6 - 12 $5 and under 5 eat for FREE.  We need at least 30 members to ensure we can continue with this fun activity.  SAVE THE DATES for these breakfasts - 1/8/2022;  2/5/2022;  3/5/2022!!!!
~The Marauders make donations to the Kansas Honor Flight each year and some of our members have benefitted from those donations by going on a flight.  If you know of a WW II, Korean or Vietnam Veteran who has not been on a flight, please share the Kansas Honor Flight with them or have them contact Cheryl & Danny Boyes and we will be happy to visit with them about getting signed up to go on a flight.   They can contact us 316-685-6590.  We serve ALL Kansas Veterans and want to ensure they all the opportunity to take this trip of a lifetime with other Veterans.  
~Update on the 17th Annual Kruz'n for Kids Drive Thru/Drop Off Toy event on Sunday - October 24, 2021 -- Cheryl reports it was a great day and thrilled to announce that 930 toys have been collected along with $8250.  THANK YOU to the Marauders for their continued & faithful support that makes this possible & a huge success for Toys for Tots - but most of all for all the area children who will have a Bright & Merry Christmas because of you.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts - we deeply appreciate your generosity!!!  Look forward to returning to our regular Kruz'n for Kids Charity Car Cruise next year - SAVE THE DATE - Sunday, October 23, 2022!!
~Cheryl suggests that if members want to participate in the Cars for Charity Show in January, time is of essence.  It is recommended that you get your entries in as soon as possible to get a space.  Please let Cheryl know if you are going to enter & when you receive confirmation of entry.  BE SURE TO MARK THE CLUB PARTICIPATION SPACE WITH MULVANE MARAUDERS - IF YOU DON'T COMPLETE THAT PART, YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN THE CLUB SPACE & WILL BE PARKED AS AN INDIVIDUAL!!!!  

~Hope some of you - especially our Vietnam Veterans - made it to Valley Center to visit the traveling replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall.  It was a touching experience and the Valley Center community did a great job of hosting and presenting the memorial.  Thank you to all those who supported this event in so many ways.

~Please remember the concerns of the club and those experiencing health issues and those who have recently lost loved ones. The Marauders Club is a "family" and we want to ensure we reach out to those in need whatever the reason.  Please let Cheryl know if you know of a member that needs a card for any reason. 

~UPCOMING EVENTS:
*Hobo Happenings in Douglass on 11/20/21.  This is a fun car show and they serve great ham 'n beans to participants along with donuts to early arrivals & coffee and hot chocolate all day.   Show season is winding down - get out and enjoy while you can!!
*SPECIAL NOTE FOR CARS FOR CHARITIES - THE SHOW IS JANUARY 14, 15 & 16, 2022.  There might have been some information that had the incorrect date. 

~Be sure to check the Club Website, the Cruisin Calendar or the KEYN online Cruisin Calendar for upcoming shows and activities. If you would like to be a ROAD CAPTAIN for any event, just let Steve Nichols know where & when you are leaving and he will let club members know so everyone can cruise together.  
Thanks to those members who have been road captains for this show season - we appreciate your willingness to help out and hope even more will volunteer next season!!

~We have club shirts for $10.  If you need a shirt, please contact Steve Nichols or come to the next meeting.  If you would like to have a club shirt in a specific color or need a jacket or sweatshirt, contact Kevin Cardwell at Shirts Plus. 
~We still have new black and white summer hats - let Steve Nichols know if you need a shirt or hat.

 
NEW BUSINESS
*SHOWDOWN IN THE VALLEY CAR SHOW WILL BE AT THE KANSAS STAR CASINO IN APRIL 2022!  Consider how you can help & be ready to volunteer!   We need every member to make this great show even greater!!!!  NOW IS THE TIME TO BE CHECKING WITH POSSIBLE SPONSORS - WE NEED SPONSORS FOR 2022 - PLEASE BE THINKING ABOUT FRIENDS, FAMILY OR ANYONE YOU KNOW INCLUDING BUSINESSES - THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN GETTING INVOLVED WITH THE SHOW AS A SPONSOR AT ANY LEVEL.  WE WOULD BE THRILLED TO HAVE NEW BUSINESSES JOIN US IN 2022,  
 If you need information on sponsorship - contact us for details.
*The Showdown Planning Committe recently met to start discussing the show and will be meeting regularly after the first of the new year.  We will need several folks to step up and take on several tasks/duties for this upcoming show.  
 
*The annual Club Calendar was discussed.  Since it is so late in the year and so much would need to be done in a short amount of time to get them printed and to us by November - there will be NO Club Calendar for 2022.  Instead of waiting until late in the year, it was discussed that we could start this project anytime during the first of next year.  It is our goal to have a 2023 calendar and begin planning, contacting sponsors and taking photos throughout the year.  If you would be willing to help with this great project, please let us know.  Don Heersche has helped with this in the past and we appreciate his time and effort.  This project needs a committee - are you willing to help??????  We still need members to volunteer to help with the calendar project.  

*At the September meeting we discussed doing something for residents at Villa Maria and Villa Court in Mulvane.  This project is still in the works but we do not have a definite date at this time. They would like to do an activity involving our club for residents and their families.  Watch the announcements for further details regarding this possible event.  
 
~IF YOU KNOW OF A MEMBER THAT IS NOT GETTING NEWSLETTERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS AND/OR EMAILS...PLEASE HAVE THEM CONTACT US!  IN ORDER TO KEEP MEMBERS UP-TO-DATE ON CLUB BUSINESS AND EVENTS, WE NEED TO HAVE CORRECT EMAIL ADDRESSES.   IF YOU KNOW OF A MEMBER WHO DOES NOT HAVE EMAIL, PLEASE TRY TO "BUDDY" WITH THAT MEMBER & HELP KEEP THEM INFORMED ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON.  THANKS FOR YOUR HELP WITH THIS REQUEST!!

*If anyone has pictures of activities, events or shows - please share them with us and we will get them posted!  Fun to see where and what club members are doing!!
 
*MEMBERS --  HAVE YOU UPDATED YOUR INFORMATION AND/OR PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE RECENTLY???  PLEASE TAKE A BIT OF EXTRA TIME,  log in & update your profile.  It's easy - just logon webpage, go to the bottom right corner, put in your email address and password.  If you don't remember your password just send Steve Nichols an email and he will send you a new one so you can complete this update.  If you have a problem updating or adding a photo of your car, contact Steve for assistance.  Kasey - our webmaster - has made some new improvements that will allow members to add or edit pictures of their cars on the website.  If you are still having issues, please contact Steve and he can walk you through the process. 
*ALSO - if you have an ad on the webpage and it is no longer valid, PLEASE delete it.  If you can't do that, let us know and we will delete it for you.

~If there is something you would like to see in the newsletter or have ideas for outings and/or events - please let us hear from you!  If you are interested in being the Road Captain for a show or event, please let us know & we will post it.

*THE MONTHLY BREAKFASTS ARE THE FIRST SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH - 8:30AM to 10:00AM AT THE MULVANE AMERICAN LEGION!  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN  PARTICIPATING WITH A GARAGE CRAWL AFTER THE BREAKFAST, LET US KNOW SO WE CAN GET IT SCHEDULED FOR ONE OF THE FUTURE BREAKFASTS.

*We are greatly saddened at the loss of longtime member Chuck Kerls - he passed away November 27 after a fall and surgery.  Please keep his wife Kathy and their family in your thoughts and prayers now and the difficult days ahead.  
*Please keep the family of Barry Burchett in your thoughts who passed away in November.
*Keep Terry Richardson in your thoughts as he continues to recover from knee surgery.
