JUNE - 2021
 
HOPE ALL OF YOU ARE DOING WELL AND ABLE TO BEGIN A MORE "NORMAL" LIFE SINCE THE PANDEMIC STARTED.
IT'S BEEN ALONG YEAR & MY PRAYER IS THAT WE WILL NEVER EVER TAKE OUR LIVES FOR GRANTED.  OUR THOUGHTS CONTINUE TO BE WITH ALL THOSE WHO HAVE LOST LOVED ONES/FRIENDS DURING THIS STRESSFUL TIME DUE TO COVID OR OTHER REASONS!!
~The JUNE meeting was held Thursday 6/17/21 at 6:30PM at the Mulvane American Legion.
~It was great to have 39 members, officers and guests present for the June meeting. 
~Thanks to the American Legion Auxiliary for a great dinner prior to the meeting.  It was very much appreciated. 
~We had several guests for the check presentation to our charities.  We were happy to have Sonya Jackson from the Kansas Star Casino with us to help make these presentations.  The Star makes this all possible.  Checks were presented to Kris Carson & Pastor Russ for the F.R.O.G. Diner at the Mulvane United Methodist Church, Cheryl Boyes on behalf of Toys for Tots, Herb & JoAnn Duncan & Pat Leon for the Kansas Honor Flight, Cara Leeds for the Mulvane Childrens Fund, Tom Kitchings and American Legion Post #136 & a check will be sent to Paul White & Blue Sky Ranch - some issues at the ranch prevented Paul from attending the presentation.  Special thanks to Daniel Caudill from the Derby Informer for attending and taking pictures.  Reps from each charity thanked the club and let them know how much their support is appreciated as we care for others in need, kids in our communities at Christmas, children in the Mulvane primary schools, Kansas Veterans and our appreciation to Post #136 for their continued support - what a great relationship we have with the American Legion.  Most of all CONGRATULATIONS MARAUDERS FOR A JOB WELL DONE FOR THIS YEAR'S CAR SHOW SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THESE GREAT & WORTHY ORGANIZATIONS - IT'S BECAUSE OF ALL OF YOU WE ARE ABLE TO DONATE TO THESE GROUPS - THANK YOU MARAUDERS FOR CRUISIN' & SUPPORTING GREAT CAUSES!!
~Over the last few months we have had new members join the Marauders.   Please take a minute to say hello to these new folks when they attend a meeting, introduce yourself and let them know we are glad to have them and that they have chosen to join our club.   I know we all get busy at a meeting and especially now, as we are glad to see our 'old' friends - but please take a moment, look around & welcome new folks that might be in attendance. 
~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report.  All is well and we continue to receive dues and expenses are taken care of.
Our accounts are looking good even after making sizable donations to our charities.
PLEASE BE REMINDED - DUES ARE NOW DUE!!!  THIS IS A FRIENDLY REMINDER -- IF YOU HAVE PAID, YOUR CHECK IS IN THE MAIL OR YOU HAVE MADE ARRANGEMENTS, NO ACTION IS NECESSARY.  IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID YOUR CURRENT DUES, TAKE A MINUTE AND SEND A CHECK - PAYABLE TO MULVANE MARAUDERS, P. O. BOX 151, MULVANE KS 67110.  IF YOU DO NOT PLAN TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP, PLEASE LET STEVE KNOW SO WE CAN REMOVE YOUR NAME FROM THE CURRENT ROSTER AND WEBSITE. 
~Cheryl announced that former member Tony Soliz passed away in April.  His sons will be taking his '38 Buick to the Zoo Show on Father's Day and would like to meet up with members at the show.  
The club also received a very nice thank you letter from Ronald McDonald House for the recent donation of "pull tabs".  Please continue to save these tabs and bring them to a meeting - Cheryl will ensure they get to RMH.  For new members, this is another way we support another great charity.  If you are currently saving tabs - THANK YOU - and if you aren't, please get a bag and start saving them for us. 
~Kevin reminded members of several upcoming events.  Amanda Ford from the Mulvane Chamber of Commerce visited with the club about the upcoming July 4th parade & ice cream social.  A fun day to get out as we celebrate America!!  Carol lrving from Lil Deuce Scoop announced the 3rd Annual Lil Deuce Scoop Car Show on June 27, 2021.  proceeds from this show will benefit Camp Hope.  Lots going on with dash plaques & other activities.  Please support as you can.
Kevin also announced a show at the Kansas Speedway on October 24.  They are doing a special car show and have invited Kansas Car Clubs to participate.  The entry is $20 but there are some specifics as far as parking & leaving the show.  If you are interested & need more info, please contact Kevin.  
Steve Caudill will be the road captain for the Father's Day Zoo Show on June 19 - he will be leaving the Derby Walmart promptly at 7:20AM.  Anyone interested is welcome to join in the fun. 
~Member Jim Thomas reminded the club that the Vietnam Traveling Wall will be in Valley Center October 21 - 25, 2021.  They are in need of many volunteers for this event.  Great way to donate some time and honor Vietnam Veterans.  Many Marauders are Veterans and several are Veterans of Vietnam.   There is a website for this event and the volunteer description is listed along with information on how to volunteer.

~Please remember the concerns of the club and those experiencing health issues and those who have recently lost loved ones. The Marauders Club is a "family" and we want to ensure we reach out to those in need whatever the reason.  Please let Cheryl know if you know of a member that needs a card for any reason. 

~Be sure to check the Club Website, the Cruisin Calendar or the KEYN online Cruisin Calendar for upcoming shows and activities. If you would like to be a ROAD CAPTAIN for any event, just let us know where & when you are leaving and we will let club members know so everyone can cruise together.

~We have club shirts for $10.  If you need a shirt, please contact Steve Nichols or come to the next meeting.  If you would like to have a club shirt in a specific color or need a jacket or sweatshirt, contact Kevin Cardwell at Shirts Plus. 
~We have new black and white summer hats - let Steve Nichols know if you need a shirt or hat.

 
NEW BUSINESS
*IT IS NEVER TO EARLY TO BE THINKING ABOUT THE NEXT SHOWDOWN IN THE VALLEY CAR SHOW AT THE KANSAS STAR CASINO.  Consider how you can help & be ready to volunteer!   We need every member to make this great show even greater!!!!  NOW IS THE TIME TO BE CHECKING WITH POSSIBLE SPONSORS - WE NEED SPONSORS FOR 2021 - PLEASE BE THINKING ABOUT FRIENDS, FAMILY OR ANYONE YOU KNOW INCLUDING BUSINESSES - THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN GETTING INVOLVED WITH THE SHOW AS A SPONSOR AT ANY LEVEL.  WE WOULD BE THRILLED TO HAVE NEW BUSINESSES JOIN US AS WELL.  If you need information on sponsorship - contact us for details.

~It is election time for the club.  With Covid last year, we kind of left things in place as we muddled through the pandemice year.  
Kevin asked for nominations from the members for each of the four offices.   Harry Funke indicated he would do the Vice President position again this year if no one else was available.  
With no nominations from the floor and the confirmation from the current officers, Don Heerschee made a motion to retain the current slate of officers for the 2021/2022 year.  Seconded by Tom Sparkman - motion passed.  
On behalf of Kevin Cardwell - President, Harry Funke - Vice President, Steve Nichols - Treasurer and Cheryl Boyes - Secretary - thank you for your vote of confidence and we look forward to working with all the club and all of you for another year!!

~Steve clarified the dates for the Mulvane Cruise nights from the last meeting.  They will be the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month starting at 7:00PM.   Line up and cruise will begin at the Primary School followed with a social time at Lil Deuce Scoop.  

~SAVE THE DATE, MARK YOUR CALENDARS & CONTACT STEVE OR CHERYL WITH YOUR RSVP FOR THE UPCOMING CLUB DINNER - SUNDAY - JULY 18, 2021 - 1:00PM AT THE MULVANE AMERICAN LEGION.  No cost to members - a small charge for guests.   The American Legion will be preparing our dinner - it will be a summer picnic with burgers, dogs and all the trimmings.  Members are asked to bring their favorite "POTLUCK DESSERT" to share with everyone.  (Steve Nichols - could you please make a 3rd pie so some of us can get a lil piece????)

*DUES ARE NOW DUE AS OF JUNE 1!!  If you have already paid your dues, Thank You - if you have not paid your current dues, please do so in the next few weeks.  Dues are still $25.00 per year.  Make check payable to Mulvane Marauders and mail it to Mulvane Marauders, Steve Nichols, P O Box 151, Mulvane, KS 67110.   If you have questions regarding your dues or a payment, please contact Steve.  If you aren't sure you have paid, please check the website and ensure you have a 'green check mark" by your name.  If you have a "red X" we have not received your dues for 2021/2022!

~With no further business, meeting was adjourned at 7:15PM.

*MEMBERS - UPDATE WEBSITE -- HAVE YOU UPDATED YOUR INFORMATION AND/OR PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE RECENTLY???  SINCE YOU HAVE A BIT OF EXTRA TIME AS OF THIS WRITING - PLEASE Take a few minutes, log in & update your profile.  It's easy - just logon webpage, go to the bottom right corner, put in your email address and password.  If you don't remember your password just send Steve Nichols an email and he will send you a new one so you can complete this update.  If you have a problem updating or adding a photo of your car, contact Steve for assistance.  Kasey - our webmaster - has made some new improvements that will allow members to add or edit pictures of their cars on the website.  If you are still having issues, please contact Steve and he can walk you through the process. 
*ALSO - if you have an ad on the webpage and it is no longer valid, PLEASE delete it.  If you can't do that, let us know and we will delete it for you.

   THROUGH 2021.    "MULVANE MARAUDERS SUPPORTING GREAT CAUSES".
 
~Please continue to check the website club events section for upcoming events & club activities.  If you need an event posted, please contact Cheryl or Steve.   The website calendar has been udated with all the events that we are aware of so far.  If you know of additional events, please let us know and we will be glad to list them for you.
~If there is something you would like to see in the newsletter or have ideas for outings and/or events - please let us hear from you!  If you are interested in being the Road Captain for a show or event, please let us know & we will post it.

*THE MONTHLY BREAKFASTS ARE THE FIRST SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH - 8:30AM to 10:00AM AT THE MULVANE AMERICAN LEGION!  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN  PARTICIPATING WITH A GARAGE CRAWL AFTER THE BREAKFAST, LET US KNOW SO WE CAN GET IT SCHEDULED FOR ONE OF THE FUTURE BREAKFASTS.

*Former member Tony Soliz - 1938 White Buick - passed away earlier this month.  Please keep his wife Michelle and the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  If you see Tony's sons at a car show with his car, please reach out to them and they continue to enjoy this great ride in memory of their dad.
*Please remember Phil Giovanni in your thoughts and prayers - he is a club member and also member of American Legion Post #136 - he has had some health issues and on the road to recovery.  

**If I have missed anyone with a health concern, please let me know!!

~The Marauders Family cares about all members and it is our desire to support each and every one.

We need to continuously lift up all our members and celebrate their joys and always be there for those needing our support.
