“SMOKE AND GAS”
FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS
NOVEMBER & DECEMBER 2017

~Meeting was held Thursday, 12/14/17 and called to order at 6:30PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion.  The November meeting was held Thursday, 11/16/17!
~27 officers, members & guests attended the December meeting.
~We are happy to welcome new member Chuck Vrana to the club.  Make sure you look him up and say hello!
~Chuck is also a member of the American Legion and announced that Marauders could donate money for a chance to win a quilt that was handmade by one of the Legion members.  Proceeds will be given to Post #136 for future maintenance  The drawing for the quilt is TBD.
~No additions or corrections from the previous minutes. Secretary Cheryl Boyes was absent from the November meeting and attended a dinner/toy drive for Kruz'n for Kids/Toys for Tots. Hope all of you had a very Merry Christmas and remembered & thought about all the children that were helped by your personal donations and the amazing donation from the Marauders.  I don't know about you - but that was the highlight of our Christmas when we opened gifts!!!   Thank you for all you do and may God bless you now and throughout the new year!!
~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report including bills paid, deposits (plus dues) - all bills paid to date. Balance is sitting good after all of our donations and aniticipation of other expenses that will need to be paid and of course seed money for Showdown in the Valley 2018!  It has been approved but we will still need to pay for the park sign and the donation to Mulvane High School.
~Steve announced that various forms for Showdown in the Valley 2018 were being printed and would be available for members in the near future.
~We might have 2 or 3 of the large Marauder Metal Logo signs.  They are $30 each.  If you want one, let Steve Nichols know ASAP. It is a first come first serve.
~The club was advised that John Fry was doing very well after his recent health issues and back out and working more than he probably should.   Please continue to remember him as he proceeds with his recovery.   Kevin also shared that Tom Devlin had been in an auto accident but was doing okay and will need a few months to fully recover.  A card has been sent to Tom on behalf of the club.
~Kevin also shared that club member Barry Burchett recently had heart surgery.  Please keep him in your thoughts and give him a call and let him know that we are thinking of him.
~Kevin showed examples of (2) designs that we could use for the Marauders Cars for Charity shirts that will be provided to the club members who are entering the show.  It is the club's 60th Anniversary and we will go with that theme.  Special shirts will be worn on Saturday of the show.  The club voted on the two options and he will proceed on the option that is similar to our regular shirts.  One shirt per car entered - additional shirts can be purchased - price to be determined.
~As of this date - we have 24 cars and 1 bike entered in the Cars for Charity Show.
~For those entering the show - watch the announcements for details on entry.  You should be getting your packet from the show approximately a week to ten days prior to the show.  Members will meet in the parking lot outside Expo Hall about an hour prior to move-in time in order to be ready to enter.  Remember if you must park next to someone, please get in line to accomodate that as we will go in and fill the area as we enter.  If we place cars on the end caps, it is best to place smaller cars in those spots.  We will have the club stanchions, end posts, rope, banner and everything else needed to rope in our area and cars.  We will also provide a sign with the club name and member name like we have done in the past.  Cheryl will be contacting you about that in the near future.
~Please continue to check the website club events section - for upcoming car events & club activities. If you need an event posted, please contact Cheryl or Steve.
~Steve reminded the club that our next monthly breakfast at the American Legion will be January 6, 2018.  Breakfast is served by Diane and the Ladies Auxiliary beginning at 8:30AM until 10AM - $8 for adults, 10 & under $5 and children under 3 eat free.  Remember we need 40+ members, friends & family to attend to keep this great activity going.  Great time to share a meal and fellowship with one another.  We had about 35 at the December 9th breakfast and had a good time visiting with one another.  We certainly don't want to lose this opportunity as it has been wonderful to have breakfast at the Legion and it helps them as well.
~REMINDER - the "belated" Christmas Party and dinner will be February 25, 2018!   It will be a Mexican theme dinner and Potluck Desserts provided by the members.  We know that is way after the holidays but it will still be fun and another opportunity to share a meal and time with one another.  We will still do the white elephant exchange.  Watch the announcemenmts for more details.
~Next meeting has been moved up one week because of the Cars for Charity Show - the meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 1/11/18!   PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR WITH THAT CHANGE!!

NEW BUSINESS
~MARK YOUR CALENDARS & SAVE THE DATE - SHOWDOWN IN THE VALLEY WILL BE SATURDAY - APRIL 21, 2018.  Be thinking about vendors and sponsors who might be willing to get involved with the show and help us out.  We will have sponsor forms, trophy forms and entry registrations in the near future.  Remember - TROPHY SPONSORSHIP IS ONLY $25.  It would be nice if some of our members would consider being a trophy sponsor.
~There is a Showdown in the Valley ad in the 2018 Cruisin' Calendar.   Kevin will have calendars at the t-shirt booth at Cars for Charity if you would like to have one!!
~We will have flyers ready & available before the Cars For Charity (Starbird-Devlin) Show and the next big Swap Meet in 2018.  We need major prize donations.  Be thinking about this & asking anyone who might be interested in helping us so we in turn can help our communities.
~If you know of someone that would like to be a vendor, let's make contact with them and get them signed up.  Vendor space is $100.  AND - we would love to have a MAJOR SHOW SPONSOR - let us know if you have ideas and we will be glad to make the contact!!  It doesn't have to be a car related business - ANY company or business could be a major donor and sponsor for our show.  Great PR and advertising for them.   Put on those thinking caps and lets get started.
~The committee will continue to meet and make plans for the show.  If you have thoughts, ideas or suggestions, please attend a planning meeting or contact an officer.  AND NOW IS THE TIME TO STEP UP AND BE A VOLUNTEER.   WE ARE IN NEED OF A OUTSIDE GATE CAPTAIN FOR THIS YEAR'S SHOW.  Here is your chance and opportunity to get involved.
~Cars For Charity (Starbird-Devlin)Show is January 19-21, 2018!  Also - 2018 will be the 60th anniversary of the Mulvane Marauders - which was established in 1958!   Even if you haven't entered a car, come down and enjoy the show and say hi to your fellow club members.
*CONTACT CHERYL (685-6590 OR CHERYLABS001@GMAIL.COM)  IF YOU ARE  ENTERED AND HAVE QUESTIONS!!
~Jack Marinelli placed an order for the metal Marauders license tags.  He now has the signs and will have them at the January 11 meeting.  If you requested a plate, now is the time to get it - they are $22.00 each and he does have a few extras.   Questions about these, please contact Jack.
~AS YOU KNOW --  WE DID NOT DO A 2018 CALENDAR.   WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL REQUESTS FOR THEM BUT UNFORTUNATELY TIME GOT AWAY FROM US AND WE DID NOT DO THE CALENDAR FOR 2018!  HOWEVER - WE ARE PLANNING ON DOING ONE FOR 2019!!   IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP WITH THIS PROJECT - PLEASE CONTACT AN OFFICER.  WE WOULD LOVE IT IF A COUPLE OF MEMBERS WOULD TEAM UP AND CO-CAPTAIN THIS PROJECT.  WE WILL HELP YOU AS WELL.   ONCE THE PICTURES ARE DONE AND AD INFORMATION RECEIVED, STEVE CAN GET IT TO ENVISION FOR PRINTING.  If we start now and shortly after Showdown in the Valley in April, we should have no problem meeting the October deadline for printing. If you would be willing to call the advertisers from the last calendar, we would also appreciate that.  WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR FROM YOU - WE NEED ALL MEMBERS TO MAKE THESE PROJECTS & EVENTS SUCCESSFUL.
Full page ad for calendar is $150 and 1/2 page is $75 - two businesses can go together and purchase an ad for a specific month.  We can accomodate specific months as long as we can - first come first serve!!  We will discuss further at future meetings.
~IF YOU KNOW OF A MEMBER THAT HAS SAID THEY ARE NOT GETTING NEWSLETTERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS AND/OR EMAILS...PLEASE HAVE THEM CONTACT US!   IN ORDER TO KEEP MEMBERS UP-TO-DATE ON CLUB BUSINESS AND EVENTS, WE NEED TO HAVE CORRECT EMAIL ADDRESSES.   THANKS FOR YOUR HELP WITH THIS REQUEST!!

~If there is something you would like to see in the newsletter or have ideas for outings and/or events - please let us hear from you!

~With no further business, meeting was adjourned at 7:15PM.
