“SMOKE AND GAS” FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS

JUNE 2015

~Meeting was held Thursday, 6/11/15 and called to order at 7:08PM by President Kevin Cardwell in the Arena of the Kansas Star Casino.
~About 46 members, guests and new members were present.  WE HAD A GREAT MEETING & APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU ATTENDING.   WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE ALL OF YOU AT THE JULY MEETING WHEN WE HAVE ELECTION OF OFFICERS - AND AT EVERY MEETING!  YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST!!!!!!
~
New members were introduced to the club - Mike Dunlap, Mark Sloyer and Gary Whitmore.  Welcome to the club and we are glad to have you join us!
~Sonya Jackson - our Kansas Star rep & contact person - took members on a tour of the facility - pointing out all the facilities and do's and don't's that we need to know for the day of the event.  The grill will be open and there will be two or three bars available in addition to the (2) Green Rooms for the volunteers.  Drinking alcohol will be limited to a 'specific' area in the parking lot and strictly enforced.  Please be mindful of this requirement from the Casino for alcohol consumption.
~Treasurer's report was given by Max Ayers.  Checks continue to come in for Showdown and deposited regularly!  Recently deposited $1700.  Max also gave a brief run down on the upcoming expenses in conjunction with the show - t-shirts, dash plaques, trophies
~ UPDATE ON KANSAS STAR/SHOWDOWN IN THE VALLEY
~According to Harry Funke, all vendor spaces are sold out - there will be 27 vendors indoors/outdoors of the Arena. All vendors are paid in full.
~Have 88 pre-registered cars for inside the Arena and (1) space for day of if we have issues
~We will mark off the floor for 8 rows with 11 cars in each row.  Car spaces will be 10 X 20
~Registration, merchandise and door prize tables will be located in the corner of the Arena by the doors that access the parking lot where all other cars will be parked.  There are 'facilities' in that area of the building as well as others at the far end of the Arena.
~Ron Stalbaum is collecting our door prizes and reported approximately 150 prizes at this time.  If you have collected door prizes it would be great if you could give us a list of the businesses that supported the show!  We will compile a list for future use and thank you purposes.
~Kevin reminded the Gate committee that we will gate at the Casino the way we have at all other shows.  If folks are entering day of the event for the outdoor spaces, we collect $15 at the gate which admits the participant and they will be given a form to take to the registration table for completion.   This will let the registration folks know they have paid. Gate folks will have an Alpha listing of all pre-registered cars.  Marauders will not be pay an entry fee and will need to advise the gate folks they are members.  We will have a listing of members for them to confirm Marauders members.
~We will have a WORK NIGHT on Wednesday, 6/17/15 at 6PM at the Casino.  We will use this time to mark off the floor, stuff goody bags, set up tables and areas, do whatever needs to be done to ensure we are ready to enter cars on Friday.  Members signed up to help - and a huge thank you to the 20 folks who volunteered to join us on Wed. 6/17/15!!!  We will be stuffing about '300' goody bags!!
~Members that were in attendance Thursday night picked up their 'volunteer' shirt and the show shirt that they previously signed up for and paid at the last May meeting.  IF you were not at the meeting & did not pick up these shirts they will be available at Work Night or on Friday or Saturday.   IF you ordered show shirts and did NOT pay at the May meeting, you will need to pay for them at pick up.
~Kevin announced that Coca Cola did NOT come through with WATER for the event and ask members to donate 1 - 2 cases for the show.  We would like to offer our guests outside in the parking lot water and provide it for our volunteers in the Green Rooms. If all of us donated a few cases each we will be able to take care of it ourselves.  Please bring your cases of water to Work Night or day of the event.  We will provide coolers and ice.
~We need to help our vendors and sponsors hang their banners or signs.   The Casino has approved us hanging these items on the railing in the Arena.  We will provide zip ties to get this accomplished.  In turn, we can assist these same folks in getting them taken down at the end of the show.
~We will need to be out of the Arena and cleaned up by 9:00PM on Saturday.  We want to leave the place the way we found it.
~IF a car owner that is parked in the Arena spends the night at the Hampton Inn, they will allow those cars to stay in the Arena overnight and the car owners will have until 10AM at the latest to move their car on Sunday morning.  Everything and everyone else will need to be out by 9PM on Saturday to allow the Casino to prepare for their next event.
~We have 86 trophies and will do the presentation between 5 - 6PM.  Will try to move this process along to get participants out.
~Richard and Robin Gunter have provided oil pads for the cars so we leave the concrete floor in good condition.  Thank you Gunters for providing these for the show!
~We will have tables for our three (3) charities so they can promote their charity and spectators have the opportunity to donate to all or any of the three - remember our chairties are Kansas Food Bank/Back Pack Program, Kansas Honor Flight and Toys for Tots/Kruz'n for Kids.
~David Orr will be taking care of all logistics and judging for the bikes - indoors and outdoors.
~Kevin asks that ALL members make our guests, sponsors an vendors feel welcome - visit with them, ask them about their experience with our show so we can discuss these things at the wrap up meeting.  We WANT them to come back and we want them to have a positive/good time & experience at the show.
~DAY OF SHOW - Sonya will be our contact person - if there is an issue, questions, problems or anything that needs special attention - let her or one of the officers know & we will resolve as quickly as possible.
~It will be Father's Day weekend and we should have a big spectator crowd.
~KEYN will be doing a live remote from the show.
~The Hampton Inn is offering a discounted rate to car participants and club members - when reserving a room you must use the code CARS for the discounted rate.

ON THE LIGHT SIDE smiley
*A very cranky woman was arrested for shoplifing at a grocery store.  She gave everyone a hard time, from the store manager to the security guard to the arresting officer who took her away, complaining and criticizing everyone throughout the process.
When she appeared before the judge, the judge asked what she had stolen from the store.
The lady defiantly replied, "Just a stupid can of peaches."
The judge then asked why she had done it.  She replied, "I was hungry and forgot to bring my cash to the store."
The judge asked how many peaches were in the can.  She replied, "Nine, but what do you care about that?"
the judge patiently said, "Well, ma'am, because I'm going to give you nine days in jail - one day for each peach."
As the judge was about to drop his gavel, the lady's long suffering husband raised his hand and asked if he might please speak.
The judge said, "Yes, what do you have to add?"
The husband said, "Your Honor, she also stole a can of peas!!"
Share a smile with someone to day - it does the soul good............!!!!!!
